Notes on Altitude and Weather ( also, see our "Weather" page )
Breckenridge sits at about 9,000 feet above sea level. The wedding venue
is at about 10,000 feet. Some visitors may experience altitude sickness
(symptoms are headache, nausea). We recommend that you drink a lot of
water and take it easy, especially your first day in the mountains.
Given the altitude and mountain location, the weather can change quickly,
even in summer. Expected temperatures are 70 degrees (average) during
the day and 38 degrees (average) during the night. The weather in August
should be clear and sunny. However, thunderstorms (especially in the late
afternoons/evenings) are possible. We recommend bringing a sweater/fleece
for mountain evenings.
Also, with the thinner mountain air (or as Allie says - because we are
closer to the sun), it's easy to sunburn. We recommend the use of SPF
30+ sunscreen and wearing a hat for outdoor activities. |
